![]() We have reached out to a company spokesperson for comment and will update this story if we receive any additional information. It's unclear how many Kroger locations are now accepting Apple Pay, or if NFC-based payments will be expanded to all of the over 1,200 grocery stores that operate under the namesake Kroger brand. And if you’re Looking for more info or recommendations on games to play or gear, feel free to check out our other blog posts where we talk about games such as Napoleon Total War, or our recommendation on what Graphics Card we think you should get in 2020.Kroger this week began accepting Apple Pay and other contactless payment methods at select locations in Kentucky and Ohio, allowing customers to tap to pay with an iPhone or Apple Watch at checkout, according to customers on Reddit and Twitter. Personally however, I recommend the Epic Speed instead. This is my only recommendation, if you still want to try Marathon speed, all the power to you. You’re playing on a large map with many civilizations (players). You aren’t trying to finish the game in one sitting. You are playing with people who finish their turns fast!.Then you may find enjoyment in this game mode if: This specifically falls into the multiplayer game mode, and also based on the assumption that you are not playing with any A.I. There is a positive aspect about Marathon though! ![]() Making the marathon game speed a complete military cakewalk if you are more technologically advanced than the AI when it comes to warfare. Big battles and armies are quite impressive on their own, however, the AI take ages to rebuild their army if you end up destroying them completely. ![]() So in a way, you are limiting yourself to what kind of victories may be available to you unless you’re extremely patient.įurthermore, playing with AI can be an absolute mess. This is because cultural and scientific victories are generally achieved in modern or future era. Marathon is found to be quite boring unless going for a domination victory (which speeds the game up). Basically twice as long as epic (1500 turns), and unfortunately, too long. So I personally recommend to play this mode with friends or players who have no issue with pressing “next turn”. One of the only cons about playing on Epic speed however is playing a multiplayer match with people who may take their turns too slowly (whether they be trolls or if its a lack of experience). It may be a hard adjustment from Standard speed, but Epic speed is generally the one speed that most players (including myself) vouch for. ![]() No leaf is left unturned, allowing players to realistically achieve any victory they want without feeling a crunch or time restraint (this includes domination, cultural, and scientific). At a whopping 750 turns, players consider this to be the true and best speed to play the game at. Epicįor players who thought standard was too fast, and want to use the full potential of every era and resource the map has to offer. In a way, you’re playing quick mode except your research and production speed are slowed. Also, the map will be discovered faster since time is slow, and unit movement speeds remain constant. Players will often find themselves generally using more ancient and classical era units such as warriors and catapults. ![]() A little bit longer than quick (500 turns), and can be very intimidating to veteran players who are used to only playing on quick mode. The speed the developers kept in mind for the game to be played at. Depending on the size of the map you play, military units become obsolete fairly quickly, and moving armies across the continent can be a pain since by the time you get them to where they want to be they will most likely be already outdated. Sometimes quick mode feels as if it’s going too quick. In both single player and multi-player game modes, quick provides a great cycle through all the time eras, reasonable technology research rates, as well as adequate production speed. So a quick play time speed will keep the duration as short as possible. This is a popular option because the games in Civ 5 have a reputation of taking long hours to complete a single game (usually requires over 5 hours of playing). A quick game goes up to 330 turns (how many times you press the “next turn” button until you land on a time victory or defeat). Probably the most popular speed used by players to this date. I will go into each speed that considers both single player and multiplayer playthroughs, and list their pros and cons. ![]()
